"Crews switched to defensive firefighting tactics due to the structure being unstable, and a second alarm was struck bringing additional resources to the scene," fire and rescue officials said. "The fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes."

The American Red Cross is helping the seven residents who were displaced by the fire.

The fire marshal's office said the fire was caused by improperly discarded spent fireworks. Authorities recommend that residents always soak used fireworks after using them to prevent fires.
