Flash Flood Watch Saturday in Fredericksburg

Chance of heavy rain for the region throughout Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Heavy rains expected Saturday has the entire region on alert for possible flash flooding.

A Flash Flood Watch will be in effect from 2 a.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

The heavy rains are expected to arrive in Fredericksburg and northern Virginia by Saturday morning. 

Embedded thunderstorms are also expected, with 1 to 3 inches of rain likely by the time the front moves on Saturday night, according to the NWS.

“Potential exists for flash flooding to occur on small streams, creaks and urban areas,” states the NWS. “Significant rises are also likely on main stem rivers such as the Potomac and the Shenandoah rivers.”
