Flu Alert: Mary Washington Limits Visitors as Flu Spreads in Region

Hospital asking patients to limit the number of visitors and asking those with flu symptoms to avoid visits.

With the number of flu cases climbing in the region, Mary Washington Healthcare is implementing a “level red” response, limiting visitors and strongly encouraging practices to avoid spreading the flu.

This includes:

  • Limiting visitors to spouses/significant others, parents, or direct caregivers.
  • Limiting visits to two per patient at any one time.
  • Patient visitors are not recommended to stay overnight.
  • Patient visitors under the age of 18 are not recommended.
  • Patient visitors with flu-like symptoms are not recommended.
  • Visitors may be issued masks or other protective clothing.
  • Associates who declined a flu shot must wear masks.
  • Patients, Visitors, and Associates are encouraged to wash their hands frequently.
