Food Bank To Expand Storage By Leasing Space In Fredericksburg

The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is planning to lease space previously occupied by Rappahannock Goodwill Industries' laundry business.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is planning to lease space previously occupied by Rappahannock Goodwill Industries' commercial laundry business in Fredericksburg’s Battlefield Industrial Park.

Starting this fall, the food bank will lease the 24,000-square-foot building at 480 Central Road, according to the Fredericksburg Economic Development & Tourism office.

The food bank plans to keep its current site at 3631 Lee Hill Drive in Spotsylvania County.

Dan Maher, president and CEO of the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, told the Fredericksburg Economic Development office that the Fredericksburg site is well-suited to relocate the food bank’s volunteer food-packing activities and some of its program staff.

The Fredericksburg site also will become the primary initial receiving point for food shipped from outside the community, he said.
