Food Bank Gets Big Donation in Memory of Spotsylvania Woman

Friends, family and fellow volunteers donated to Fredericksburg Area Food Bank to remember Diane Kuechler.

The Fredericksburg Area Food Bank is giving thanks this week to donations in memory of Diane Kuechler.

Kuechler, 76, died in March. Instead of flowers, her family requested donations be made in her memory to the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank.

Her obituary read, "Diane believed that no one should go to bed hungry, and you would honor her memory with a contribution to aid in the fight against hunger."

On Thursday, the food bank noted in a Facebook post that $4,136 had been raised in response to the family's request, with the support of the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department. Kuechler had been a life member of the organization.

"This equates to 12,400 meals provided back to the hungry of our community. What a loving tribute to a life well shared," the food bank noted on Facebook.
