Fortune Cookie Has Winning Lottery Numbers In Stafford

Too good to be true? As if Loraine Simon Henry of Stafford County cares what you think. A fortune cookie won her $100K in the Va. Lottery.

STAFFORD, VA—Too good to be true? As if Loraine Simon Henry of Stafford County cares what you think. She recently told Virginia Lottery officials she was dusting when she found a fortune cookie. Instead of words of wisdom, the slip of paper had numbers. Henry showed it to her husband and decided to start playing the numbers from the cookie in the lottery.

Then, on May 26, the five numbers inside that cookie matched those drawn in the Virginia Lottery’s Cash 5 game. Simon Henry suddenly became $100,000 richer. "This is unbelievable!" she told lottery officials as she and her husband claimed the game's top prize.

The winning numbers were 3-4-16-24-26, and the ticket was bought at City Mart, 1001 Forbes Street in Stafford. Simon Henry said she plans to use her winnings to pay bills and possibly go on a cruise. The chances of winning the $100,000 top prize: 1 in 278,256.
