Foster Dad Arrested For Child's Burns In Fredericksburg: Police

A foster parent was arrested Thursday for causing burn injuries to a boy under his supervision last summer: Fredericksburg Police.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA—A foster parent was arrested Thursday for causing burn injuries to a boy under his supervision last summer, according to Fredericksburg Police. Eric L. Woods, 33, of Fredericksburg, was charged with one felony count of child abuse causing injury. He was released on a personal recognizance bond.

On Aug. 23, faculty members at a Spotsylvania County elementary school contacted police about burn injuries on a student. Police found that he was in foster care and living with a foster parent in Fredericksburg. A months-long investigation, including consultation with experts at Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU, found that "the child had received intentional patterned burn injuries."

Woods is licensed as a foster parent through a private child placement agency, according to police.
