Foul-Mouthed Drunk Arrested in Stafford: Police

He interjected himself into an incident that had no bearing on him — until it did, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

STAFFORD, VA — A drunk man armed with a gun was taken to jail last Friday night after angrily confronting officers during an investigation that had nothing to do with him at a residence on Poplar Road, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

Keith Andrew Ortman, 30, of Royal Hills Drive in Stafford, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, public intoxication and public swearing.

Around 8:30, police made an obligatory visit to the site of a 911 hang-up call and were interviewing the husband and wife about the circumstances when Ortman came out of the home and approached an officer while cussing.

Police say he was unsteady on his feet, smelled strongly of alcohol and was told to go back inside the home or he would be arrested for public intoxication.

But Ortman continued the verbal assaults while saying he was on private property and therefore immune to arrest for public intoxication. Police disagreed and tried to cuff him but he broke free and a struggle ensued.

Witnesses told police he had a gun, which was found on him. He was taken to the ground and then taken to jail, but not before continuing his tirade in front of a magistrate.
