Four Arrests in Child Sex Sting in Spotsylvania

Suspects thought they were meeting a 13-year-old girl for sex, according to Sheriff Roger Harris.

Four men were recently arrested in a child sex sting operation, according to Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.

The men thought they were communicating online with a 13-year-old girl, according to investigators.

Instead, they were communicating with a member of the sheriff's Internet Crimes Against Children task force.

In the arrests between Oct. 2015 and March 1, 2016, each man drove to a pre-determined location to meet with the 13-year-old, according to a sheriff's office statement.

According to Sheriff Roger Harris, the program was funded by a grant that provided funding for overtime hours and equipment to assist deputies in catching the predators.

“Grant funded operations like this allows the Sheriff’s Office to be proactive in our approach to catching predators," Harris said. "Online predators are a serious concern in our society today and these operations are essential in the fight against the sexual exploitations of children."

Those arrested were identified as:

  • Matthew Arrington, 22, of Fredericksburg: Indecent Liberties and Electronic Solicitation of a Minor
  • Roy Brown Jr., 44, of Richmond: Indecent Liberties, Electronic Solicitation and Concealed Weapon.
  • Derrian Lewis, 28, of Quantico: Indecent Liberties, Electronic Solicitation, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest
  • Francis “Frank” Vashro, 50, of Stafford: Indecent Liberties, Electronic Solicitation and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
