On Saturday, June 13, 2015, the Fredericksburg Academy of Ballet will be unveiling it’s newest original ballet, “Alice in Wonderland.” This full length, original collaboration between instructors Julie Drennen and DeLane Califf, and owner, Eveline Erard, has been in the works since last September.

Everything from music, to casting, staging, costuming and choreography has been done with a considerable effort to try and portray the Lewis Carroll novel in an original and understandable way. Most of the music is of British origin, since this is the quintessential British story. The choreography ranges from classical to jazzy, with some very unique and humorous twists!

Our story will begin with Alice meeting Lewis Carroll on a nice day in the park. Later, at her mother’s garden party, she is distracted by a familiar looking white rabbit who runs across the yard and leads her down a dark hole, where chaos ensues! You will see familiar characters such as the Chesire Cat, the Mysterious Caterpillar, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, The Mad Hatter, dancing fish and butterflies, all culminating in the infamous croquet match with the notorious Queen of Hearts!
