Fredericksburg City Public Schools Alter Monday Schedule Due To Expected Severe Weather

Fredericksburg City Public Schools adjusted its hours Monday due to severe thunderstorms and a threat of tornadoes.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Ahead of the severe weather that's expected to pass through the region, all Fredericksburg City Public Schools will be closed on Monday for students and staff, according to an FCPS alert.

In addition, 12-month employees will complete flexible hours by either working remotely or at the worksite and all buildings will close at 12 noon. All afterschool activities are canceled.

Severe thunderstorms posing a threat of tornadoes, heavy rains, damaging winds with gusts up to 75 mph and an eventual change to snow are all possible Monday as a powerful storm moves into the D.C. region from Sunday night into Monday, forecasters say.

Essential personnel should contact their supervisor for report times, according to FCPS.
