Fredericksburg City Public Schools Decide On Classes For Jan. 26

The winter storm forced Fredericksburg City Public Schools to make a schedule decision for Monday classes.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Due to the state of emergency in Virginia and the forecast for snow and sleet through Monday morning, All Fredericksburg City schools and facilities will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, on Code Red.

City government, courts, FXGO!, parks and recreation, and Visitor Center are closed on Monday, Jan. 26.

  • General District Court and Clerk's Office will be closed Monday, Jan. 26
  • Juvenile and Domestic Courts will be closed Monday, Jan. 26
  • Visitor Center will be closed Monday, Jan. 26

Fredericksburg City wants to encourage everyone to practice safe shoveling techniques.

  • Dress warmly, making sure to cover your head, fingers and toes
  • Stay hydrated, but avoid heavy meals right before or after shoveling
  • Move only small amounts of snow with each pass of the shovel
  • Push the snow (DO NOT lift the snow)
  • Take frequent breaks
  • Stop shoveling entirely if you feel exhausted
  • Make sure you take care of your neighbors if they are unable to shovel near their occupancy
