Fredericksburg City Schools Decide On Classes For Jan. 30

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Due to continued icy roads and poor sidewalk and parking lot conditions, Fredericksburg City Public Schools will remain closed for students on Friday, Jan. 30, the district said. All activities on school campuses are canceled.

According to school officials, essential employees should still report to work, while 12-month employees should plan to work from home.

There will be meal distribution for students on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at James Monroe High School. Students do not need to be present. Only a parent or adult relative needs to provide a student's name for meal pick-up.

All weekend activities are also canceled, as buildings and facilities remain closed, officials said.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools

All Spotsylvania County schools are closed on Friday. 12-Month Employees are Code 2 and should report 2 hours late as safety permits. Essential personnel and food services staff will report at specified times.

All school and non-school activities, including student externships, are canceled for Jan. 30, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.

Stafford County Public Schools

Due to lingering ice and adverse conditions, all Stafford schools, offices and buildings will be closed on Friday, Jan. 30. All activities and events scheduled for Friday are also canceled. 12-month employees should telework, and liberal leave is authorized.

The district also extended its free grab-and-go meal service for students to Friday. Families may pick up meals for students at the following locations:

• Edward E. Drew Middle School (501 Cambridge St., Fredericksburg)
• Kate Waller Barrett Elementary School (150 Duffy Dr., Stafford)

Meals may be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
