Fredericksburg Fine Arts Show This Weekend
See what's being offered at this weekend's Fredericksburg Fine Arts Show & Sale, which runs Friday-Sunday at the Hart Community Center.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA—As the weather gradually gets warmer, and the cold winter nearly behind us, we're getting into the beginning of art show season. And so it shall be this weekend at the Dorothy Hart C0mmunity Center, 408 Canal Street. Looking for some nifty new paintings to spruce things up a bit for spring? You'll be headed to the right place.
It's the 67th Fredericksburg Fine Arts Show & Sale. Admission is free, and there will be offerings from more than 80 local artists. In all, there will be more than 300 paintings, drawings, photographs, mixed media pieces and more.
Hours are 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. There's also a champagne reception 6-8 p.m. Friday. Here are the awards categories:

• Best in Show: $500
• Popular Vote: $50 - Public votes until Noon on Sunday, March 18, Awarded on Sunday at 3:00pm.

• Awarded in each category: 1st Place: $100 2nd Place: $50 3rd Place: Ribbon (Categories with less than 15 entries will not be judged for these awards.)
• Marguerite Wyant Memorial Award $25: Awarded to Novice Entrant in honor of Marguerite Wyant who taught for the Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation Department for over 25 years.
• Shannon Broom Memorial Award: $25 Awarded to Drawing Entrant, this award is given by the Woman’s Club of Fredericksburg, in memory of young artist Shannon Broom, who won two awards in her initial exhibit in 1998.
