Fiber art, paintings, collages, new artists and more downtown this Friday.

Art First Gallery - 824 Caroline St. – Meet the artists and see original featured work by Pat Thalman and Barbara Taylor Hall. The opening reception will be from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.
Artful Dimensions Gallery - 911 Charles St. – Explore the new 3D work Artful Dimensions has to offer. Sign up for one of their many classes, including beading and more. The opening reception will be held from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
Brush Strokes Gallery - 824 Caroline St. – This month, experience “Out of the Box,” an exhibit by Nancy Williams. Through her show, Williams displays her work in partial and total abstract art. With acrylics, oils and mixed media, Williams paints memories, feelings, states of mind and motion. Opening reception is from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

The Creative Side Inc. - 513 Jackson St. – This Friday from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m., join Creative Side Inc. in their Fifth Annual Children’s Show and Costume Party. Artwork from kids aged 2-18 will be shown.
Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center – 1001 Princess Anne St. – As a part of the celebration of Fiber Art, the Museum will host several events surrounding the art of fiber. Many different artists will have work on display. There will also be a traveling exhibit, Quilt National, on loan from the Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, Ohio.

Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts - 813 Sophia St. – Artist Maura Harrison debuts her exhibit entitled “Exit the Edge.” Her photo collages and digital paintings challenge the idea of completion. The opening reception is from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Liberty Town - 916 Liberty St. – The gallery is also celebrating Fiber Art with an exhibition featuring the Spinners and Weavers Guild, entitled “Common Threads.” The show will celebrate 30 years with the Guild. The opening reception will be from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.
Ponshop Gallery - 712 Caroline St. – During a one night event, Ponshop will host a book signing and art show for Estalbo’s Erotic Works. Elstabo is a Brooklyn-born artist and graphic designer. This is his second self-published book, with the images taken from his own exhibitions over the past six years. The opening reception will last from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
P. Rose Gallery – 709 Caroline St. – Local artist Carol Iglesias will display her new work of Brittany, Normandy and The Netherlands through Oct. 31. The opening reception will be from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
Sophia Street Studios – 1104 Sophia St. – Sophia Street Studios welcomes Pots and Palettes to their studio space. The pottery store allows you to create your own masterpiece. In addition, view work from several local artists in the expanded space. Opening reception is from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Studio A – 1011 Princess Anne Street – Local artist Robyn Ryan displays her acrylic work of wildlife and nature in her latest show, “Autumn Layers.” Enjoy the “fleeting glimpses” of nature and relax within the painting. The opening reception is from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.
Weadon Studio and Fine Art – 305 Hanson Avenue, Suite 130 – Fredericksburg’s newest gallery will feature work from artists from across the country. With a mix of work from local and outside artists, this new gallery aims to show styles and artists that have never before been seen in Fredericksburg. The opening reception is from 7:00pm – 10:00pm.
Wm Mason Violin Shop - 509 Jackson St. - Explore the world of Wm Mason II’s Violin Shop this Friday. With plenty of music to go around and a professional luthier on hand, walking into the shop is a learning experience for all. The shop will hold an opening reception from 6-9 p.m. to welcome visitors, players and those who just want to learn more about the world of stringed instruments.
