Fredericksburg Man Accused Of Stabbing At Hotel: Police

The victim of the stabbing in Spotsylvania was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — Deputies with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office arrested a Fredericksburg man as a suspect in a stabbing at a hotel Thursday morning. When deputies arrived at the Knights Inn on Market Street around 8 a.m. Thursday, they found a 35-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.

With assistance from the Fredericksburg Police Department, Spotsylvania deputies arrested Deon Waverly Harris, 24, of Fredericksburg on Thursday in the area of Sag Harbor Lane in Fredericksburg.

Harris arrived at the Knights Inn and knocked on the door of a room, witnesses told police. When the victim came to the door, Harris and the victim got into an argument. Harris then allegedly began stabbing the victim, according to the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.

Harris, who was known to the victim and other occupants of the hotel room, had left the hotel prior to the arrival of deputies, the sheriff's office said. The argument allegedly centered on a woman who was at the hotel with the victim and who had been in a prior relationship with Harris, the Free Lance-Star reported.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Harris is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, which carries a potential sentence of up to life in prison. He is being held without bond in the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
