Fredericksburg Man Arrested In Spotsylvania Drug Bust; Cocaine And $4K Seized
Deputies recovered three ounces of cocaine and crack cocaine after a vehicle stop and residential search warrant in Fredericksburg.

SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — A 43-year-old Fredericksburg man wanted on a drug distribution charge was apprehended Wednesday at a home that was being monitored by deputies from the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office Special Investigation Unit, according to authorities.
Deputies conducting surveillance operations at a residence in the 11000 block of Piedmont Landing Driver spotted David Hackett of Fredericksburg, who was wanted on charges related to the distribution Schedule I/II narcotics.
"As Hackett entered his vehicle and approached the front of the neighborhood, members of the Street Crime Unit were notified," according to the incident report. "Hackett was subsequently apprehended through a vehicle stop and taken into custody without incident. Following his arrest, a search warrant was executed at Hackett’s residence."

Investigators recovered about $4,000 in cash and a combined total of 3 ounces of cocaine and crack cocaine in Hackett's residence and vehicle, according to the report.
Hackett was charged with the two counts of manufacture/distribution of Schedule I or II controlled and distribution/sale for profit of Schedule I or II controlled substance, the sheriff's office said.

Hackett was arraigned on Thursday morning in Spotsylvania General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 10 a.m. on June 24, according to court documents.
At the time of his arrest, Hackett was wanted on the sale for profit of Schedule 1 or 11 controlled substance charge in connection to a Jan. 30 offense, according to court records. All three charges Hackett is facing are felonies.
