Fredericksburg Man Poses As Cop, Follows Woman For Hours: Police

A Fredericksburg man driving a fake police car followed a woman through three nearby states before being stopped and arrested, police say.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA—A Fredericksburg man driving a fake police car followed a woman through three nearby states last Saturday before being stopped and arrested in Virginia, according to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office. Jerry Lentz Saintvil, 28, was charged with impersonating a police officer, false identification to law enforcement to avoid arrest and driving on a suspended license.

Police say Saintvil was driving a white 2010 Chevrolet Impala that was marked up to look like a modern police cruiser. It had "police" on it, and also had flashing blue lights. The woman called 911 when she noticed she apparently was being followed but never pulled over while going through western Maryland, West Virginia and finally Virginia.

The woman said he activated the blue lights but only in an apparent attempt to keep up with her, and that he never tried to pull her over—just kept on following her.

Once police pulled over the car, which had North Carolina license plates with FILM CAR on them, the man said the car had been being used for a music video in Winchester, and that he was driving it home to Fredericksburg. He initially gave police false identification.

Inside the cruiser, officers found police-style equipment, including badges and a police belt. Saintvil also was convicted of impersonating an officer in 2011.
