Fredericksburg Pilot Hospitalized After Plane Crash: Police
A 79-year-old Fredericksburg man was hospitalized after the plane he was piloting crashed during an emergency landing, state police say.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A 79-year-old Fredericksburg man suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries Thursday afternoon when the plane he was piloting crashed in Fauquier County, according to authorities.
The name of the pilot has not been released.
Virginia State Police responded around 3:27 p.m. to a plane crash in the 14500 block of Spring Mill Road.

Investigators said the pilot was trying to make an emergency landing in a field, but instead the single-engine Cessna aircraft struck several trees, police say. The pilot, who was the plane's only occupant, was flown to Fairfax Inova Hospital for treatment.
No injuries on the ground were reported.

Both the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board were notified and will be working to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash, VPS reports.
