FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The City of Fredericksburg Planning Commission will conduct a Marcha 11 public hearing on the Fredericksburg Fire Department's request for a special use permit (SUP2601-0016) to build a new fire station at 3340 Fall Hill Ave.

The property spans 24.95 acres, with the proposed fire station area covering 5.38 acres along Fall Hill Avenue. The site is currently zoned Residential R-2.

On May 27, 2025, the City Council approved a professional services contract with DJG, Inc. of Williamsburg, who will lead the architectural design of Fire Station #3. The design process, which includes site approvals, bid documents, and construction support, is expected to take 12-15 months.

"The new Fire Station #3 will improve resiliency and provide system redundancy to back up the City’s two existing fire stations, ensuring comprehensive fire and emergency response coverage throughout Fredericksburg," according to a Sept. 25, 2025 post on the city's website. "Over time Station #3 will also work to ensure less deployment from downtown’s Station #1 for cross city emergency calls, enabling them to more quickly react to emergencies in our nationally significant Historic District."

The March 11 public hearing will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, located at 715 Princess Anne St. Interested individuals are invited to attend and provide their input on a Special Use Permit application. Information related to this application is available for public review. Residents can examine the details online on the City’s website.
