Fredericksburg SPCA Uses $5K Grant To Accept Animal Transfers
The Petco Foundation awarded the Fredericksburg SPCA a $5,000 grant to pay for the transfer of dogs and cats from other shelters.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Petco Foundation awarded the Fredericksburg SPCA a $5,000 grant to support its plan to accept the transfer of dogs and cats from other shelters in Virginia where animals are at greater risk of being put down.
The Petco Foundation's grant helped 240 cats and dogs who were transferred to the Fredericksburg SPCA when other facilities were forced to shut their doors or limit their assistance due to the coronavirus crisis, the SPCA said.
The Fredericksburg SPCA was able to place the animals in foster homes while they awaited adoption. All general medical care, vaccines, dewormer, heartworm tests, microchipping, and other intake costs were funded through the gift from the Petco Foundation.
