Fredericksburg, Stafford Schools Make Weather Call For Jan. 8

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Public schools in the city of Fredericksburg, along with Stafford and Spotsylvania counties, will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 8 due to icy conditions, the school systems said.

Because temperatures fell below freezing throughout the region Tuesday night, the melting snow and wet roads turned to ice in many places.

Fredericksburg City Public Schools said Code Green 12-month employees may report up to two hours late.

With schools closed, Stafford County Public Schools said 10-and-11-month employees will not report to work. Twelve-month employees have the option to work from home.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools also will be closed on Wednesday, the school system said Tuesday night.
