Fredericksburg, Stafford Schools Make Weather Decision For Jan. 3

School officials in Stafford and Fredericksburg have adjusted their schedules for Monday, January 3 due to expected inclement weather.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — School buildings in Stafford County, Spotsylvania County, and Fredericksburg will not open on Monday, Jan. 3. Officials are expecting inclement winter weather beginning on Monday morning.

Monday was planned as a professional workday for teachers and other staff members. Students were not planned to return to classrooms until Tuesday, Jan. 4.

Stafford, Spotsylvania, and Fredericksburg are under a Winter Storm Warning from 1 a.m. on Monday until 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Snow totals are expected to range between 5 to 8 inches, weather officials said.

In Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Fredericksburg staff are still expected to telework on Monday.

Each school district noted that they still expect students to return to classrooms as scheduled on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
