Fredericksburg Weather: Live Post-Snowstorm Updates

It wasn't so much a storm as it was a glancing blow but it nonetheless led to numerous closings in the area. A chance of flurries remains.

(Updated 1:28 p.m.) FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Following an overnight snowstorm that met the low end of expectations, roads remain a bit dicey but a speedy recovery appears likely.

At this point, the big question will be whether Fredericksburg-area schools will be closed another day or have delayed openings Wednesday.

UPDATE: MetroAccess Service resumes Wednesday.

As it is, here's the latest forecast, as of 11 a.m., from the National Weather Service HQ in Sterling, to be followed with updates when available:

Today: Snow showers, mainly before 3pm. High near 36. Breezy, with a northwest wind 16 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Tonight: A chance of snow showers, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Northwest wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday: A chance of snow showers, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 30. Blustery, with a northwest wind 16 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday Night: A chance of snow showers before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 20. Northwest wind 10 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 37. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
