Fredericksburg Woman Accused Of Spitting On Victim During Stafford Dispute Arrested

A 56-year-old Fredericksburg woman was charged with assault and battery after a disturbance in Stafford County, deputies said.

STAFFORD, VA — A 56-year-old Fredericksburg woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly spit in another person's face during a disturbance in Stafford County, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy responded at 11:22 a.m. to the Hidden Brook Drive area after receiving a report of a disturbance, the sheriff's office said.

The victim told the deputy that the suspect had acted hostile toward them. After speaking with both parties, the deputy determined the suspect had made derogatory remarks toward the victim before spitting in the victim's face, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities identified the suspect as Rhonda Davis, 56, of Fredericksburg. She was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

Court Records

Online Stafford County General District Court records show Davis was charged with Class 1 misdemeanor assault and battery under Virginia Code 18.2-57. The offense and arrest are both listed as having occurred on Tuesday, and the case was filed on Wednesday.

If convicted on the charge, Davis faces a possible sentence of up to 12 months in jail and/or fines up to $2,500, under Virginia law.

Court records also indicate Davis was being held in custody and was scheduled for arraignment at 8:15 a.m. Thursday after her initial arraignment on Wednedsay was continued.

According to the sheriff's office, Davis was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.
