Fredericksburg's Best Ice Cream, As Chosen By Patch Readers: Carl's, Jimmy T's
Patch asked Fredericksburg residents about their favorite ice cream shops, and they had plenty of opinions.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — We asked for recommendations of the best ice cream places around Fredericksburg and boy, did you have opinions. .
Unfortunately, there's no consensus on where the best slice is. But Patch readers had lots of recommendations. Many recommendations also came from the Taste of Fredericksburg Facebook group, where more than 100 comments flooded in.

- Carl's
- Carl's is a registered landmark in Fredericksburg, serving shakes and custard since 1947. "There's nobody else with the machines, the capability to make what they have, or who can make what they have," one commenter said. "There's also nobody else with the nostalgia and memories."
- Jimmy T's
- "They have such a fantastic selection of flavors (soft serve ice cream), sundaes, shakes, blizzards, and shaved ice," one commenter wrote. "The lines are often long, but the customer service is always exceptional! Also, I’m pretty sure that they have the lowest prices in town for ice cream!"

- "Blue Cow is amazing," one reader wrote. "I'm dairy sensitive and they had some nice dairy-free flavors the last couple times I've been."
