Fugitive Arrested for Shooting at Deputies, Injuring K-9 Dog in Spotsylvania: Sheriff's Office
Joseph Conway was found in Richmond and faces attempted capital murder charges, according to Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.

SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — A fugitive wanted for firing a handgun at officers and injuring a police dog was arrested Monday night in Richmond, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.
Joseph Conway, 34, of King George County, was charged with two counts of attempted capital murder of law enforcement and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Conway was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over Sunday night, got out of the vehicle and became involved in a physical altercation with deputies and took off on foot. A K-9 unit already had arrived and the law enforcement dog was released to chase Conway, along with officers.

During a short pursuit, deputies say, Conway pulled out a pistol and shot at the officers. They weren't hit but the dog was. Deputies returned fire but lost Conway when he ran into a nearby neighborhood.
The K-9, named Dux, was taken to an emergency veterinary hospital, and its condition is unknown.
