Green Light for Fredericksburg Police Gun Give Back
Virginia Citizens Defense League had opposed this weekend's police department's event.

A Fredericksburg Circuit Court judge gave approval Thursday, Dec. 11 for the Fredericksburg Police Department to go ahead with their Gun Give Back event this Saturday, Dec. 13, according to Fredericksburg.com.
After the announcement of the event on Facebook, the Virginia Citizens Defense League and firearms dealer Patricia Webb filed an injunction hoping to stop the gun give back.
The VCDL claimed in its complaint that the event was actually a buy back which would require a local ordinance and that by planning to destroy the guns before offering them to the public, the event was violating state laws.

City attorney Kathleen Dooley argued that the complaint had no merit and neither the VCDL nor Webb had standing to bring the claims, according to a court order.
Judge Gordon F. Willis gave the VCDL and Webb 21 days to revise their complaint, Fredericksburg.com reports, but allowed the give back to take place at its originially scheduled time this Saturday.
