Hazardous Weather Advisory Extended: Northern Virginia Weather

A hazardous winter weather advisory has been extended throughout Northern Virginia.

STERLING, VA—The National Weather has extended its hazardous weather forecast through 7 p.m. Sunday for the Northern Virginia area. Although most of the rain no longer is of the freezing variety, extreme caution is urged for anyone driving in this mess.

Here's the detailed forecast from the National Weather Service:

Sunday night: Rain, mainly before 8pm. Patchy fog before 11pm. Low around 28. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 35. Northwest wind 8 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.

Monday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 25. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. South wind 5 to 7 mph.

Tuesday Night: A chance of rain after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Wednesday: Rain, possibly mixed with freezing rain, becoming all rain after noon. High near 42. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Wednesday Night: Rain likely before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 37.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 24.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 40.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.

Saturday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
