STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A woman in Stafford is accused of driving a truck without permission, hitting a person with the truck, crashing it, and fleeing the scene on Friday, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Now, police are looking for the woman, who has not been identified.

Stafford County deputies responded to the scene of a crash on McCarty Road near Berry Hill Lane around 5 p.m. on Friday. A Ford F-250 was lodged into a tree along the shoulder of the road, and the female driver and a male passenger had fled the area on foot, police said.

While investigating the incident, a deputy learned of an incident that occurred earlier on Friday in the parking lot of Town and Country Giant. Authorities claimed the female driver "had failed to return the truck to the rightful owner."

"The owner confronted her, prior to the accident, in the parking lot of Town and Country Giant," the Stafford County Sheriff's Office wrote on Facebook. "She again refused to return the truck, and fled the scene, striking another person in the parking lot with the truck mirror."

A woman in the parking lot suffered minor injuries after she was struck, police said.

Authorities determined that after fleeing the parking lot, the driver ran off the roadway on McCarty Road and struck a tree head-on. "She then attempted to back up and flee, but only succeeded in skewering the truck on a second tree like a marshmallow on a stick," the sheriff's office said.

Authorities are still looking to identify the woman who was driving the truck and the passenger who was also in the vehicle. Charges of unauthorized use, hit and run, and felonious assault are pending, police said.

The driver is a white woman in her 20s, according to the sheriff's office. She weighs approximately 160 pounds and now has a cut on her face from the accident, police said. The passenger in the truck is only described as a white man.
