FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Christmas has come and gone. As Fredericksburg residents prepare for New Year's Eve, they'll be looking for the best way to dispose of their Christmas trees.

In the Fredericksburg area, residents have a few options for their trees.

  • Curbside collection will be available for Fredericksburg residents from Monday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 19.
    • Trees will not be collected by trash crews, but by a separate group. The trees will be recycled and turned into mulch.
  • Trees can be taken to the Belman Road Recycling Center.
    • The center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Trees can also be taken to the Stafford Landfill at 489 Eskimo Hill Road.
    • The facility is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Residents should remove all ornaments, lights, tinsel, twine, and other objects before recycling trees. Anyone with a live tree should continue watering it to prevent any increased risk of fire, experts say
