James Monroe Set to Host Freedom

Sometimes, when a superior team meets up with an inferior opponent, it sets up what is often referred to as a "trap game." In a so-called trap game, the favored team overlooks the opponent at hand, perhaps glancing ahead a few games on the schedule. The results are often disastrous.

Friday, hosting a weak Freedom squad that has been outscored 74-0 in its first two games, James Monroe could be primed for a bit of a surprise if they get sleepy. Therefore, the Yellow Jackets' key to victory in this week three match-up is staying focused and locked in on the task at hand.

So far that hasn't been a problem. The Jacket's offense has been dominating so far this season, outscoring opponents 90-37, at a rate of nearly one point per minute of game play. 

with impressive performances turned in by senior running back Ethan Preston and junior quarterback Demontaz Brown, who combined for five touchdowns. In its season opener five days prior, in a game which saw the Jackets pour on the offense in the second half.

Expect JM to exploit its superior athleticism and put this one away early, and move to 3-0 on the season. Freedom does have some team speed, but can't match up man for man with the Yellow Jackets. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Maury Stadium in downtown Fredericksburg.
