James Newman Sr., 81

James Roy Newman Sr., 81, of Spotsylvania County, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Newman was retired from the United States Air Force and from Texas Instruments. He fought in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Newman was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Sergeants Association.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Newman; children, James Roy Newman, Jr. (Elizabeth) and Gail Disharoon Brosious (Randall).  He was adored by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.
