Joseph LaPlaca, III, 58

Joseph Martin LaPlaca, III, 58, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. LaPlaca was a member of LifePoint Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force as a firefighter, and after retirement was an R.N. who loved helping people. He also was a former member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, travel, and time with his grandkids and family.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Tina LaPlaca; children Candance LaPlaca, Theresa Mathis, Monica LaPlaca, Aimee LaPlaca, Tara Wood, and Jennifer Turner; brothers Mark LaPlaca and John Brazell; sisters Kathy Morrone, Ann Myers, Maggie Webb, and Cindy Brazell; and six grandchildren Bailey, Blaise, Joey, Collin, Tate, and Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Monica Burgoyne, his father, Jack Brazell, and his son, Jason Jensen.

A service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg chapel. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
