FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Independence Day is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on in and around Fredericksburg for 2023.
We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Fredericksburg so you can start planning now.

- Fallen Heroes 5 Miler
- Where: Downtown Fredericksburg
- When: 7:30 a.m. on July 4
- Race day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at the city's visitor center. There will be prizes awarded for best costume.
- Children's Roll N' Stroll
- Where: Downtown Fredericksburg
- When: 9:30 a.m. on July 4
- Interested families can start lining up at 9 a.m. in the VRE parking lot. The parade will follow Caroline Street from the train station to Market Street.
- Festival of the Streets
- Where: Riverfront Park
- When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 4
- The festival includes an arts and crafts show, a bouncy house, live music, and food trucks.
- Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence
- Where: Hugh Mercer Apothecary shop on Caroline Street
- When: 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on July 4
- The event is free and open to the public to celebrate American independence.
- Story Time at the Tavern
- Where: Rising Sun Tavern Museum
- When: 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on July 4
- Costumed volunteers will read children's books about the American Revolution and host other themed activities. The event is free.
- Patriotic Palooza at Virginia Credit Union Stadium
- When: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 4
- The event includes moon bounces and lawn games before a showing of the movie National Treasure at 5:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin around 9 p.m.
- Fourth of July Spectacular at John Lee Pratt Memorial Park
- When: Event begins at 6:30 p.m. on July 4. Fireworks start around 9:30 p.m.
- The event includes lawn games, food trucks, and a DJ. There will also be a performance by the Fredericksburg Concert Band.
- Fireworks Viewing Spots
- Where: Pratt Park, Old Mill Park, and Expo Center parking area
- The above locations will be open on July 4 for residents to watch fireworks around the area. Residents should bring lawn chairs, but they should leave any alcoholic beverages at home.
