Keith Dewayne Soltes, 72

Keith Dewayne Soltes, 72, of Spotsylvania County was called home to heaven on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014 at University of Virginia Hospital.

Keith was born and raised in West Virginia, served in the Army, then following his honorable discharge he moved to Virginia. Keith became an entrepreneur in the mid 70’s when he started making draperies out of his Dale City, VA home as Keith’s Draperies. Soon after, he moved his business to Dumfries, VA and became Keith’s Draperies & Carpet. He later moved his business to Fredericksburg, VA and changed the name to Carpet Country. He also went on to start up Pyramid Homes and various other business ventures. He truly defined the term “Jack of all trades”.

Keith spent many of his last years doing all the things that he loved. It would difficult to find anyone who loved animals and antique auctions more than Keith. He was an avid golfer who chose to live in Florida in order to golf year round. He was a lifelong sports fan supporting the Washington Redskins, West Virginia University teams and the Tampa Bay Rays. His sense of humor and ability to tell a good joke were gifts that he shared with others, even during his final days here on earth. He was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife Genevieve Yvonne Soltes; son Keith Dewayne Soltes, Jr.; daughters, Bonita Raye Baker (Ted) and Franki Janel Lambiotte (Brian); brothers Steve Soltes (Rosie) and Gary Soltes (Nancy); five grandchildren, Wesley, Sydney, Trey, Kyle and Delaney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Eloise Soltes and his sister, Betty Jo Grose.

A memorial service will be held at1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13 at Hope Presbyterian Church.
