Labor Day 2019 VA Grocery Hours: Wegmans, Giant, Harris Teeter

VIRGINIA — Whether you need more hot dogs for the kids or sides for your barbeque, shoppers need to know if they can get what they need at D.C. and northern Virginia grocery stores on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2. Nearly every food store in the region — Giant, Wegmans, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Harris Teeter among others — is open on Monday, with a few hours adjusted for the holiday.

Here is the status for Virginia and Washington, D.C., grocery chains, taken from their websites and emails to Patch. Some stores may vary.

• Wegmans Food Markets: Stores will be open their normal business hours: 6 a.m. to midnight.
• Food Lion: All stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. or 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. (depending on the store).
• Safeway: Open normal hours, most locations open 5 a.m. to midnight, some open 24 hours a day. Pharmacies will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Weis Markets: Stores open regular hours, which are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. for most stores. Pharmacies will close at 5 p.m.
• Giant Foods: Most stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.; pharmacies will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Harris Teeter: Open normal hours, most stores open 24 hours.
• Trader Joe's: All stores open normal hours on Labor Day, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

• Whole Foods: Stores will be open; hours vary by location; it’s best for customers to check their local store hours online: https://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/list.
• ShopRite Supermarkets: Northern Virginia stores will be open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Many ShopRite stores are independently owned and operated, so holiday hours will vary; check your local store's Facebook page or call the store to check hours.
• CVS: Hours vary significantly but most pharmacies close at 2 p.m. and MinuteClinics are open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Fresh Market: Stores are open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• MOMs My Organic Market: Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

• Walmart: Stores will be open regular hours.
