FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Two local residents who were wanted by police were arrested earlier this week and also charged with multiple drug offenses, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Department announced on Friday.

Meredith Williams, 31, Stafford, and Cornelle Parker, 35, Dumfries, were taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after police were notified that the vehicle of someone who was wanted by police was parked on South Gateway Drive, police said.

Sheriff’s deputies approached the vehicle, where they found Parker, who was wanted for violating the terms of his release from jail, police said. Parker initially refused to get out of the vehicle, police said but was eventually detained by police. An investigation also determined that Williams has an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court.

A controlled substance and cash were found in Parker’s pocket and drugs were also found in the back seat of the vehicle during a search, police said. Pre-packaged baggies of the substance were also found in the front-seat console of the vehicle and a digital scale, cell phones and other drug paraphernalia were also located in the vehicle.

Parker and Williams were both charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute as well as simple possession charges, and conspiracy to commit a narcotics violation, police said. Both were served the warrants and both are being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
