Man Accused Of Selling Drugs At Stafford Hospital: Police
A man was arrested at the Stafford Hospital after police said he sold a controlled substance to a patient on Tuesday.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A man gave a controlled substance to a patient at the Stafford Hospital on Tuesday, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Police said the man also crashed into a vehicle in the hospital parking lot and parked in a spot designated for people with disabilities.
The man, 65-year-old Charlie Dotson, was arrested at the hospital. He is charged with driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, distribution of a controlled substance, and illegally parking in a handicap space. Dotson was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.
If convicted of all charges, Dotson could face up to 40 years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 10.

A hospital employee called police around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the police report. The employee said a man was trying to distribute a "controlled substance" to a patient.
When police arrived on the scene, a man told them that he had crashed into a vehicle in the parking lot. The man, who police identified as Dotson, was unsteady on his feet and told deputies that he had taken a controlled substance. Dotson's vehicle was parked in spot for people with disabilities without a pass.

"The investigation revealed Dotson had given a patient a suspected controlled substance," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook. "While Dotson did the right thing of reporting that he struck another vehicle, the other choices made were questionable."
