Man Cleared Of Robbery, Shooting Woman In Head In Fredericksburg
According to a report, Dajon Armani Morton, 25, was acquitted of charges stemming from a July 2017 incident at a Fredericksburg playground.
FREDERICSKBURG, VA — A 25-year-old man who was accused of robbing one woman and shooting another in the head at a Fredericksburg playground was acquitted of charges Tuesday. According to a report, after a two-day trial in Fredericksburg Circuit Court, Dajon Armani Morton was cleared of four charges, including robbery and wounding.
The charges stem from a July 2017 incident at W.L. Harris Neighborhood Park during which a person robbed Latisha Moore and shot Nahkyia Smith in the head, the Free Lance-Star reported. During the trial, Judge Sarah Deneke ruled the prosecution’s evidence simply did not prove that Morton was the person who committed the crimes.
Previous evidence revealed Moore inherited $250,000 in 2017, and prosecutors said Smith may have been involved in planning the robbery. However, when the armed robber showed up to the playground and took Moore's purse, the gun allegedly went off accidentally and a stray bullet hit Smith in the head.
