STAFFORD, VA—A man was arrested Friday when his toddler son wandered into the middle of a road, after which drugs and guns were found inside his home, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Xavier Raquan King, 19, of Stafford, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm while in possession of drugs, and three charges of leaving a loaded firearm accessible to a child under 14.
On Friday morning, police responded to a call that the 3-year-old son of one of the residents was seen in the middle of Stony Hill Road. When they arrived, they asked the man about the report and then requested to see the boy, after which they were led to the rear of the home.
The child appeared OK but a deputy smelled marijuana and saw drug paraphernalia on a shelf. King initially denied having any pot in the home but eventually admitted as much. A subsequent search found marijuana and cocaine apparently packaged for distribution, as well as five guns. Other guns and marijuana were also found in other rooms of the home.
