Man Found Passed Out In Driver's Seat At Motel 6: Police

Stafford deputies found a man passed out in the driver's seat of a car at a Motel 6 as a child slept in the backseat.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A man was arrested on numerous charges early Thursday morning after Stafford County Sheriff's Office deputies found him passed out behind the wheel of a car in the parking lot of a Motel 6 as an eight-year-old child slept in the backseat.

A 911 caller reported seeing the car strike the curb before pulling into a parking space at the motel at 401 Warrenton Road (Route 17). When a sheriff's deputy arrived around 12:40 a.m. Thursday, the car was running and the windows were foggy. After approaching the vehicle, the deputy observed the driver asleep at the wheel with an alcoholic beverage between his legs. The deputy also noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.

The driver appeared unresponsive, so deputies opened the door and attempted to wake him up. They also put the vehicle in park after seeing that it was in neutral. The driver eventually woke up and was extremely lethargic. In addition, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and he was unsteady on his feet.
