Man Robbed At Knifepoint Trying To Buy Phone From Online Sale
Stafford County officials said the man's life was also threatened while attempting to buy an iPhone off the popular sale app Letgo.
STAFFORD, VA — A man was threatened and robbed at knifepoint while attempting to buy an iPhone as part of a sale through the mobile app Letgo. According to Stafford County Sheriff's Office officials, the victim was meeting the seller in the 1100 block of Madison Circle when the seller robbed him.
According to officials, the victim and the suspect met to complete the online purchase when the suspect took the victim's money without giving him the phone, causing a verbal argument. The suspect then took out a knife and threatened to kill the victim before fleeing on foot with the money.
Deputies canvassed the area but were unable to find the suspect, according to a report.

Stafford County officials said when selling or buying something online, residents are encouraged to use the two parking spots in front of the Ford T. Humphrey Public Safety Building at 1225 Courthouse Rd. Both spots have been designated safe exchange zones and provide a safe, well-lit place for the public to exchange goods in a protected environment.
