STAFFORD, VA —A man is being held without bond after trying to run over a police officer with his vehicle Friday night at the Cavalier Family Skating Center on Jefferson Davis Highway, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Trevon Wilkins, 27, was charged with attempted aggravated malicious wounding of an officer.

Around 11:15 p.m., police responded to a reported disturbance in the rear parking lot of the skating center and saw several males standing near a vehicle parked beside a dumpster. He asked them to leave because the place was closed. They were to slow to comply before finally getting into the vehicle, with Wilkins in the driver's seat. The officer illuminated the area with his flashlight so Williams could see while backing up the vehicle.

But then, instead of leaving the parking lot, Wilkins pulled up his vehicle beside another, stopped and then began driving straight toward the officer at a high rate of speed. The cop drew his gun and shouted for Wilkins to stop, but Wilkins continued to accelerate. The officer had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.
