Medicare Phone Scam Attempted in Fredericksburg: Police

In the past 24 hours, according to Fredericksburg Police, two residents have been called on the phone and asked for account information.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Authorities issued an alert Tuesday regarding a Medicare insurance phone scam that attempted to victimize two senior citizens in the past 24 hours, according to Fredericksburg Police.

Both victims, who receive their prescriptions through the mail, told police they received phone calls from "Medicare representatives," who asked them to verify their account information.

  • Medicare will never call and ask for your account information, social security number, bank account number, etc.
