Metro Shutdown: VRE Service Unaffected
Metro will shut down from midnight early Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday. VRE service is unaffected.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Metro will be closing all train service for more than 24 hours beginning at midnight Tuesday night to inspect the tracks after a fire Monday raised concerns.
But Virginia Railways Express announced service will operate a normal schedule on Wednesday.

Metro made the announcement late Tuesday that safety checks would be required on 600 "jumper cables." Officials are trying to avoid a repeat of the deadly smoke incident at L'Enfant Plaza in January 2015.
Regular Metro commuters on a traditional schedule might want to consider VRE as an option for their commute.
