Michelin Guide Taps DC Restaurants Komi, Métier For Stars
Michelin, the Rolls Royce of international dining guides, has bestowed a coveted star upon two DC restaurants: Komi and Métier.

WASHINGTON, DC — Michelin, the Rolls Royce of international dining guides, has bestowed a coveted star upon two DC restaurants: Komi and Métier, according to a release. That makes 11 one-star eateries in DC. Nine of them maintained their status from last year's guide, which was its first DC edition. Three other restaurants maintained their two-star marks.
The chef at Komi, 1509 17th Street NW, is Johnny Morris, and the guide says he serves up "a Mediterranean tasting menu that offers diners a variety of small bites, house-made pasta and roasted meat, often goat." The chef at Métier, 1015 7th Street NW, is Eric Ziebold. The guide says he "features menu items that have been locally sourced and décor items from the owners' personal collections." The three eateries to keep their two-star status were the Inn at Little Washington (Va.), Minibar and Pineapple and Pearls. The best you can get is three stars, and the guide's international director, Michael Ellis, told the Washington Post all three apparently came quite close and that he's likes the direction of DC dining.

"I was hoping we could find a third star," he said. "We sent the inspectors back several times to all the restaurants. We just couldn't confirm it. We're definitely moving up there. I'm optimistic that the culinary scene will continue to develop."
Komi and Métier join Blue Duck Tavern, the Dabney, Fiola, Kinship, Massaeria, Plume, Rose's Luxury, Sushi Tara and Tail Up Goat as one-star choices.
