Minivan Strikes 2 Vehicles As Driver Escapes Fredericksburg Police
Fredericksburg Police are searching for a man whom they say eluded capture after he struck two occupied vehicles with a minivan last week.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Fredericksburg Police released a photo on Thursday of Eugene Montaque, who eluded police after the minivan he was driving struck two vehicles last week. Montaque is wanted on a warrant out of Westmoreland County on a felony abduction warrant.
While on patrol around 8:50 p.m., on April 30, Officer Hibbitts spotted Montaque driving a minivan the 1400 block of Airport Avenue.
Activating his emergency equipment, Hibbitts tried to conduct a traffic stop, but Montaque drove across the front yards of several residences in an attempt to flee, according to police. The minivan then struck an occupied Ford Fiesta at the intersection of Airport Avenue and Coakley Street.

Montaque continued his effort to evade Hibbitts, speeding through Mayfield and down Tidewater Trail toward Spotslyvania County. He then struck a second occupied vehicle near Ruffins Pond, according to police.
After losing sight of the minivan near the intersection of Tidewater Trail and Route 17 in Spotsylvania County, Hibbitts stopped his pursuit. None of the occupants of the two vehicles the minivan struck were injured.

Officer Hibbitts obtained the following warrants on Montaque:
- One class 5 felony warrant for hit and run to an attended vehicle with > $1,000 in damage (VA code
- 46.2-894)
- One class 6 felony warrant for eluding with endangerment (VA code 46.2-817b)
- One class 1 misdemeanor warrant for driving revoked (VA code 46.2-301)
- One class 1 misdemeanor warrant for reckless driving (VA code 46.2-852)
- One traffic summons for operating a vehicle with fictitious tags (VA code 46.2-613)
- Three traffic summons for failure to obey a highway sign-stop signs (VA code 46.2-830)
