Montpelier Holiday Open House Saturday in Orange
The home of James Madison, father of the Constitution, will be open for free tours and decorated with a 19th century flavor.

ORANGE, VA — Looking for classy holiday excursion with a touch of history? If that's the case, this one's right up your alley.
It's the 2016 Holiday Open House at James Madison's Montpelier, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the father of the Constitution's home, 11350 Constitution Highway.
The free event will include tours of the historic home, which will be decorated with 19th century touches, as well as live music representing the era.

Actors portraying James Madison and his wife will greet visitors at the door, no less.
Not only that, but the on-site David M. Rubenstein Visitor Center will offer visits with Santa, as well as a barbecue buffet lunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. ($16 for adults, $8 for kids).

And if you want to make a day of it, you can walk along Montpelier's eight-plus miles of trails through horse pastures, meadows and old-growth forests.
