Motorist Finds Body In Ditch Along Road In Spotsylvania

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a man found in a ditch early Wednesday morning in Spotsylvania County.

A motorist was driving on Massaponax Church Road in the area of Church Pond Road early Wednesday morning when he saw what appeared to be a body in a ditch. Once sheriff's deputies arrived around 12:15 a.m., they determined the deceased was a man.

The identity of the man is not being released until the next of kin has not been found. The deceased is described as a white man in his late 30s.

The man's body showed no obvious signs of trauma, the sheriff's office said. His body was sent to the medical examiner’s office where an autopsy will be conducted. This incident is still under investigation, according to the sheriff's office.
